Michael Mandrusiak, Psy.D.
Director of Training
As the Director of Training for the Vancouver campus, a key part of my role is to cultivate and build community partnerships, and Adler students are critical allies in this process. Through respectful, mutually empowering collaboration with our community, the education and training of our students is enriched; students and faculty at once leave an impact and are impacted. I also serve as a Core Faculty of the Vancouver Campus’s Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology program. In that role, I have facilitated the Professional Development Seminar, which orients students to social justice values and to a professional identity as a psychologist in training. My student-centered teaching philosophy balances creation of a safe and challenging environment in which learning can occur.
As a product of scholar-practitioner training, I am a practitioner, administrator, applied researcher and consumer of basic research. My research interests are varied and include the following: trends and policies in professional psychology; optimization of training and supervision processes for trainees; mental health and professional advocacy; analysis of online content related to mental health; career development; and integration of clinical treatment with client religion and spirituality.
