My teaching philosophy has its roots in Adlerian psychology: mutual respect, shared accountability and responsibility, pragmatic, creative, and flexible. I view my students as my customers and my goal is to provide a great experience while holding a high standard for learning and development.
My background and experiences cover both counseling and organizational psychology. I have 20 years of clinical experience and managing clinical facilities and 18 years of organizational development work as a consultant and as a senior human resources executive. I had the honor of being trained clinically by more than 10 people who were directly trained by Dr. Rudolf Dreikurs. My experiences in organizational development include both consulting to Fortune 500 companies and smaller organizations and responsibilities internally as Chief Learning Officer to a multi-billion dollar international corporation.
In working with students, I have a number of goals. I would like students to find their own style and voice and tap into their strengths and capabilities to be positive change agents. I would like students to value diversity and accept the uniqueness of every individual while recognizing we share a common bond of social interest. Every individual has a place and must be treated with dignity and respect. Finally, I would like students to become leaders and innovators while maintaining commitment and focus on social responsibility.
